Inje County Accelerates Construction of 'Girinnaerin Eoullim Platform' as Urban Regeneration Hub in Girin-myeon
KRW 10.78 Billion Invested to Accelerate Urban Regeneration in Girin-myeon
Girinnaerin Eoullim Platform Aims for Completion in August
The construction of the Girinnaerin Eoullim Platform, which aims to improve settlement conditions and serve as a hub for revitalizing the local community in Girin-myeon, Inje County, Gangwon Province, resumed on March 10 after a winter work suspension. The project is now accelerating toward its scheduled completion in August.
This initiative is part of the "Girin-myeon Urban Regeneration Project," which was selected in 2021 through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s Urban Regeneration New Deal program.
Inje County is investing a total of KRW 10.78 billion, including KRW 5 billion in national funding, to improve the urban living environment in the Hyeon-ri area of Girin-myeon and promote urban regeneration projects to revitalize the local community through 2026.
The Eoullim Platform is being constructed at 418-7 Hyeon-ri, Girin-myeon, with a total floor area of 1,769.8 square meters, consisting of one basement level and two above-ground floors.
The main facilities will include a senior care lounge, the Girinnaerin Cafe, Girin Bakery, and the Eoullim Center, which will support various village community activities.
In particular, to enhance residents' convenience, the site will feature an underground parking lot and a village performance hall, as well as resident-friendly social overhead capital (SOC) facilities such as a nature-themed playground and a care farm (healing farm) in the outdoor area.
In addition to constructing the facilities, the county is also running robust software programs to help residents grow into key operators of the platform.
So far, through the operation of the Urban Regeneration Academy, 17 residents have completed urban sketch education, and 4 residents have earned state waterproofing technician certificates through house repair training, resulting in tangible improvements in resident capacity building.
Inje County is also providing consulting for establishing a village management cooperative, focusing on laying a foundation for residents to independently manage and operate the facilities after completion.
The construction progress of the Girinnaerin Eoullim Platform currently stands at approximately 40%. With the recent resumption of construction, the project is on track to reach completion by August.
Once the platform is completed, it is expected not only to improve the aging residential environment, but also to invigorate community activities with direct resident participation, thereby breathing new life into the local community.
