Taihan Cable Breaks Ground on First Overseas EHV Cable Plant in Vietnam: "First Local 400kV Facility"
Expanding Presence in Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas
Vietnam's Only Manufacturer of 400kV-Class Extra-High Voltage Cables
Annual Growth Projected at 10-12% Through 2030
Taihan Cable is constructing its first overseas extra-high voltage cable manufacturing plant in Vietnam.
On March 12, Taihan Cable announced that its Vietnamese subsidiary, Taihan Cable Vina, has begun construction of a new extra-high voltage (EHV) cable plant rated for up to 400kV in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam. This marks Taihan Cable's first overseas EHV cable manufacturing base and is part of its strategy to respond to expanding global power grid investments and to strengthen its production foundation abroad.
The new plant will be built on an approximately 56,200-square-meter (about 17,000-pyeong) site within the Long Thanh Industrial Complex in Dong Nai Province, where Taihan Cable Vina's existing plant is located. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2027. Through this investment, Taihan Cable Vina will expand its extra-high voltage cable production capacity and enhance its ability to serve not only neighboring Southeast Asian countries but also global markets in Europe, the Americas, and Oceania. Upon completion, Taihan Cable Vina will become the only company in Vietnam capable of producing 400kV-class extra-high voltage cables.
On March 11 (local time), Taihan Cable Vina held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new EHV cable plant at its factory in Dong Nai Province. The event was attended by Daeheon Kim, President of Planning at Hoban Group; Minseong Kim, Vice President of Planning; Junseok Kim, Executive Vice President of Management at Taihan Cable; Ho Chi Minh Consul General Jeong Jeongtae; Choi Gyucheol, Director of KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency); key officials from Dong Nai Province; company executives and staff; and around 150 participants in total.
