Glassdome Achieves First CBAM Verification for Manufacturers: "Aiming to Deploy in 20 Companies This Year"
Establishing a Carbon Emissions Measurement, Reporting, and Verification System Based on Actual Factory Data
Glassdome, a company specializing in carbon data management, announced on March 12 that it has completed the establishment of a Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) platform and third-party verification for manufacturing companies to address the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Through this project, Glassdome built a measurement infrastructure and a CBAM MRV platform for three steel and aluminum manufacturers—Alus, Sekwang Hi-Tech, and Korea Powder Metallurgy—to collect factory energy data based on actual measurements.
In addition, the company completed CBAM reporting system verification by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) for the collected data and calculation results. LRQA is a verification body for the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) recognized by the EU and is expected to be registered as an official CBAM verifier in the future.
The Glassdome CBAM MRV platform provides a one-stop solution for the entire measurement, reporting, and verification process, from product identification and production process monitoring to automated carbon emissions calculation and report generation, as well as linkage to third-party verification. According to the company, adopting companies can reduce administrative procedures and consulting and verification costs, manage potential carbon cost risks when exporting to the EU, and respond to future carbon reduction strategies and global supply chain carbon data requirements.
Hot Picks Today
Starting with the implementation for these three steel and aluminum companies, Glassdome aims to provide the CBAM MRV platform to more than 20 export-oriented manufacturing companies within this year. Jin-ki Ham, CEO of Glassdome, stated, "Building a digital carbon management system based on actual measurement data is the key to responding to CBAM. Glassdome will support companies, even those lacking in-house experts, to systematically respond to global carbon regulations such as CBAM and will serve as a digital infrastructure for reliably managing carbon data across the entire supply chain."
