Full Exemption of Matching Investment for SMEs Starting This Year

Integrated Support from On-Site Diagnostics to Infrastructure Development

The Korea Industrial Complex Corporation announced on March 10 that it is recruiting companies for the "2026 Industrial Complex Safety Service Design Project" in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion. The initiative aims to prevent industrial accidents and promote a culture of safety among manufacturing companies within industrial complexes.

The core of this project is to identify and improve safety issues by thoroughly analyzing workers’ psychology, behavior, and experiences. Selected companies will receive comprehensive diagnostics covering everything from manufacturing processes and work environments to movement flow systems at their sites. They will also receive integrated support to develop and implement safety infrastructure optimized for the specific characteristics of each workplace.

Since its launch in 2021, the project has supported the establishment of safety infrastructure for a cumulative total of 36 companies by 2025. In 2025 alone, support was provided to 8 companies, resulting in the identification of 86 key safety issues and the completion of 115 field applications. There was also a tangible improvement in participating companies’ safety awareness, which rose by 29% compared to before the project.

Notably, site-specific designs such as a forklift blind spot collision prevention LED warning system, movement flow design to prevent falls during high-place work, and the development of dust explosion risk maps have delivered visible results in proactively reducing accident risk factors.

This year, the project has significantly lowered the barrier to entry to ease the burden on small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. Previously, all companies, regardless of size, were required to make matching investments; however, starting this year, small and medium-sized enterprises are fully exempt from this requirement. Support will be provided to a total of 8 companies in 2026, with an average of 60 million won per company and a total budget of 480 million won allocated for the year.

Lee Sanghoon, President of the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, stated, "The Safety Service Design Project has proven effective in dramatically improving safety awareness among workers and preventing accidents on-site. Especially this year, with the reduced participation burden for small and medium-sized enterprises, we hope that many companies will join us in creating even safer industrial complexes together."
