Siheung City to Conduct 'Gyeonggi Province-Siheung City Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Day' on the 24th
City to Intensify Seizure of License Plates on Vehicles with Unpaid Local Taxes and Fines
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lim Byeongtaek) announced that, as part of its active collection efforts for local taxes and fines in arrears, it will conduct a comprehensive vehicle license plate crackdown on delinquent vehicles together with Gyeonggi Province on March 24. Prior to this, the city sent payment reminder notifications via KakaoTalk electronic billing and advance notice of license plate seizure to local tax delinquents to raise awareness about local tax arrears.
The city has been collecting local tax arrears on-site by seizing license plates of delinquent vehicles and issuing advance seizure notices, which are closely related to citizens’ daily lives.
Vehicles subject to seizure include those with unpaid automobile tax or unpaid vehicle-related fines (such as inspection delays, failure to obtain mandatory insurance, or parking violations) amounting to 300,000 won or more. For other delinquent vehicles, an advance seizure notice will be attached to encourage voluntary payment. In addition, for livelihood-dependent delinquents (such as freight or delivery vehicles), the city plans to minimize the payment burden by encouraging installment payments.
If there are any arrears in local taxes such as automobile tax or other non-tax revenues, individuals must check their outstanding balance and make payments by accessing the Wetax website or calling the local tax and non-tax revenue automated response system (142211).
On the day of the crackdown, enforcement will be intensified in areas with high vehicle density, such as apartment complexes, large supermarkets, and public parking lots, using vehicles and specialized equipment equipped with license plate seizure systems.
