On March 9, Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that the Han River Protection Movement Namyangju Regional Headquarters (Representative Namgung Wan) held the "2026 Han River Protection Movement Kickoff Ceremony."

The participants reaffirmed their commitment to public-private cooperation for the environmental preservation of the Bukhan River and local streams.
During the kickoff ceremony, the Han River Protection Movement Namyangju Regional Headquarters reviewed the achievements of its activities from the previous year and shared plans for 2026, consolidating the determination to practice environmental conservation in the local community. In particular, the need for ongoing, citizen-led initiatives to preserve water quality and protect the ecological environment of the Bukhan River and local streams was once again emphasized.
Representative Namgung Wan stated, "This year as well, we will continue our activities with our members to protect the clean Bukhan River and local streams, with the goal of creating changes that both citizens and future generations can experience."
Deputy Mayor Kim Sangsoo remarked, "Thanks to the longstanding efforts of the Han River Protection Movement Namyangju Regional Headquarters members in the field, the foundation for environmental conservation in our city has become even stronger. Moving forward, we will further strengthen cooperation with private environmental organizations to protect a clean water environment and strive to build Namyangju as a sustainable ecological city."
