The event will take place on March 14 from 1:30 p.m. and is open to children, teenagers, and families.
The main program is the "Challenge! Pi Digit Memorization Contest," which will award prizes to participants who can accurately memorize the most digits of pi. There will also be a "3.14-Second Timer Challenge," where participants must press a button exactly at 3.14 seconds without looking at a stopwatch; those who succeed will receive snacks.
Participants can also experience drawing geometric shapes with a spirograph, which creates patterns using repeated circles and curves. All completed works will be gathered and displayed together as a group exhibit. In addition, a large-scale string art piece created by members of a student math club will be featured in the exhibition.
The Nowon Mathematics Culture Center, established in 2019 as the first of its kind among local governments nationwide, offers a variety of exhibitions and hands-on programs. During the first "Nowon Mathematics Festival" held last November, the center operated over 50 experience booths, receiving a positive response. The district is strengthening its reputation as an educational city by providing hands-on learning infrastructure such as the Mathematics Culture Center, Astronomy & Space Science Center, and the Nowon Education Platform.
