Hanam City has been making every effort to expedite the Wirye Sinsa Line project. The city sent an official letter on December 22, 2025, to the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Development Institute (KDI), urging for a "swift completion of the preliminary feasibility study." In addition, Hanam City has focused its administrative resources by making more than 36 strong recommendations to the central government, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, for the prompt start of the "Wirye Sinsa Line" and the "Hanam extension" proposal.
On January 15, Mayor Lee Hyunjae emphasized the urgency of the project in a statement, saying, "As the Wirye Sinsa Line project has been excessively delayed, public trust in government policy has plummeted, and the level of transportation inconvenience for residents has reached an unbearable point."
A city official stated, "The Wirye Sinsa Line already passed the private investment eligibility review in 2018, and its financial feasibility has been verified. We expect that the comprehensive AHP evaluation this time has sufficiently reflected the policy and social necessity of the Wirye Sinsa Line, resulting in a positive assessment."
