With this agreement, Yanggu County has become the 16th sister city of Yongin Special City.
Mayor Lee stated, "Yanggu is making bold investments in the fields of culture and the arts, and the Yanggu County Park Soo-keun Art Museum acquired the 1956 work 'Family' by artist Park Soo-keun, who was born in Yanggu, in 2023. I hope that the two cities will develop a relationship as close as family in the future," adding, "I wish that this agreement will serve as a stepping stone for both cities to strengthen cooperation and grow together."
Mayor Lee also said, "Let us strive to establish a cooperative system, for example, by promoting the excellent agricultural products of Yanggu County and Yongin City to encourage consumption in both cities. Since Yanggu is equipped with excellent sports facilities such as tennis and soccer fields, it would be great if sports teams or organizations from Yongin could visit Yanggu for training, thereby fostering cooperation in the field of sports as well."
County Governor Seo Heung-won remarked, "I believe that Yongin's infrastructure and vision play a leading role among local governments in Korea, and I hope that this agreement will lead Yongin and Yanggu to become more than just brothers," adding, "We will join hands so that Yongin and Yanggu can become cities that their citizens can be proud of."
After the sister city agreement ceremony, Mayor Lee visited the Park Soo-keun Art Museum and discussed ways to promote exchange and cooperation between the two cities.
Taking this agreement as an opportunity, the city plans to pursue exchanges and cooperation with Yanggu County for joint development in various fields, including administration, culture, tourism, economy, and sports.
In the field of administration and autonomy, the city will share exemplary policy cases to revitalize resident autonomy and promote exchanges between resident autonomy committees and workplace clubs in both cities.
In the field of culture and tourism, the two cities will promote their major festivals and tourist attractions and undertake joint promotion efforts such as setting up promotional booths during local festivals.
