Donghae City to Recruit 200 Prospective Tenants for LH Purchase Rental Housing...Up to 30 Years Residency
Applications Accepted at Local Administrative Welfare Centers from March 9 to 13
Rent Set at 30% of Market Price... Residency Possible for Up to 30 Years
Donghae City, Gangwon Province, announced on March 6 that it will be recruiting 200 prospective tenants for the LH Korea Land & Housing Corporation’s leasehold purchase housing in order to provide a stable housing foundation for vulnerable households without homes.
The application period is for five days, from March 9 to March 13, and applicants must visit the local administrative welfare center for their address jurisdiction as of the recruitment announcement date (February 23, 2026).
This recruitment targets a total of 200 households: 100 units for households with two members or fewer (exclusive area of 50㎡ or less), and 100 units for households of three to four members (exclusive area exceeding 50㎡ and up to 85㎡).
Purchase rental housing refers to public rental housing in which LH acquires and renovates existing multi-family homes and then leases them to vulnerable households at rates lower than market prices.
Currently, there are 224 units across 18 complexes supplied throughout all residential areas of Donghae City, including Cheongok-dong, Songjeong-dong, Buksam-dong, Bugok-dong, and Bukpyeong-dong.
Eligible applicants are members of households without homes who are registered residents of Donghae City, and who meet the priority 1 or 2 qualifications set forth in the notice, such as recipients of basic livelihood or medical benefits, single-parent families, and persons with disabilities.
The lease contract is for a two-year period, and tenants may renew up to 14 times if they maintain their eligibility, allowing for a maximum residency of up to 30 years. The rent varies by complex and unit size but is set at approximately 30% of the prevailing market lease price.
Donghae City will review the asset and eligibility status of applicant households before selecting prospective tenants. When vacancies arise in LH housing, tenants will be invited to move in according to their waiting list order. However, depending on the housing situation, there may be a waiting period before actual move-in.
