Goheung County to Provide Entrance Congratulatory Grants for New Elementary, Middle, and High School Students

The Goheung County Educational Development Committee announced that, to mark the start of the 2026 academic year, it will begin accepting applications for entrance congratulatory grants for new students entering elementary, middle, and high schools in the county.
The entrance congratulatory grant program is designed to encourage students as they embark on a new chapter and to ease the financial burden on parents. Under this program, each elementary school student will receive 100,000 won, each middle school student will receive 200,000 won, and each high school student will receive 300,000 won.
In order to be eligible for the entrance congratulatory grant, either the student or one of the parents (or guardians) must be registered as a resident of Goheung County as of the date of admission. Applications are submitted through the respective schools by providing the required application form and supporting documents.
If a student enrolls in a school within the county but is not registered as a resident of Goheung County, a second application can be made through the school after the student transfers their residency to Goheung County and six months have passed. The entrance congratulatory grant will then be provided.
Chairman Gong Youngmin stated, "I hope the entrance congratulatory grant will provide practical support for students as they take their first steps," adding, "We will continue to develop a variety of support policies in line with the evolving educational environment to ensure that students have a stable foundation for growth."

Meanwhile, the entrance congratulatory grant program is a policy pledge of the 8th popularly elected administration. Previously, the grant was only available to new high school students, but starting in 2023, it was expanded to include new elementary and middle school students as well. With this broader coverage, more families are able to benefit from educational welfare, resulting in a very positive response from county residents.
