The agreement was promoted to expand the cooperative framework between the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Institute of Registered Architects to the local level and to establish a practical support system for disaster recovery.
Under the agreement, the Gapyeong Regional Architecture Association will provide a 50% reduction in design and supervision fees for residents rebuilding disaster-damaged houses, based on the service fee calculation standards set out in the local government budget manual. To facilitate this, the association will form a pool of participating architects and provide it to the county.
Gapyeong County will actively guide affected residents to ensure they can access this support and will expedite related administrative procedures, such as building permits, within the scope permitted by law.
As a result, residents who have lost their homes due to disasters will be able to reduce the significant costs of design and supervision and shorten administrative procedures during the reconstruction process.
Seo Taewon, the county governor, stated, "The warm decision of the local architecture association will be a great help to affected residents," adding, "The county will do its utmost to ensure that residents can return to normal life as soon as possible through close cooperation and administrative support in the event of disaster damage."
