Honda Earns CDP Climate Change 'A Rating'... Top Score for Three Consecutive Years
Environmental Management Achievements Proven in Global ESG Assessment
Carbon Neutrality Target by 2050 and Expansion of Renewable Energy
Honda has proven its environmental management achievements by receiving the highest rating for three consecutive years in a globally recognized assessment that gauges the level of response to the global climate crisis.
Honda announced on March 5 that it received the highest grade, an A rating, in the climate change response assessment conducted by the global non-profit organization Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). This year, CDP analyzed environmental information from over 22,000 companies worldwide and assigned ratings, awarding an A rating to companies with outstanding environmental protection activities.
Honda is pursuing electrification and improvements in production efficiency with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality across all products and corporate activities by 2050. In particular, the company is focusing on transitioning to low-carbon energy and utilizing renewable energy to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 46% compared to the fiscal year ended March 2020.
Key examples include the installation of solar panels at business sites and the independent operation of wind power plants in Brazil. Honda believes that these environmental management initiatives and transparent information disclosure played a decisive role in the outcome of this assessment.
