Officials from the Citizen Safety Division and the Future City Division, safety management advisory panel members in the civil engineering field, and representatives from LH and the construction companies attended, and through this public-private joint effort, they checked on-site safety management conditions at large construction sites where excavations of approximately 40 meters or more are being carried out.
This project is a core transportation infrastructure for the new town, with a total length of 6.4 kilometers, connecting the Wangsuk District from north to south. It is being promoted using the nation’s first vertically separated three-dimensional underground underpass method, in which National Routes 43 and 47 are vertically separated and arranged one above the other.
During expert consultations that day, it was pointed out that this section has complex ground and groundwater conditions, requiring more meticulous and precise construction management. Accordingly, the city emphasized thorough safety management throughout the entire construction process, including managing groundwater flow and water-blocking measures, as well as strengthening step-by-step measurement and monitoring.
Vice Mayor Kim Sangsoo said, "Because this is a simultaneous excavation project, please make every effort to ensure that the safety verified at the design stage is thoroughly maintained throughout the construction process."
He added, "As this is the first case in Korea, I hope that by prioritizing safety above all else, this project will provide stable transportation infrastructure to future residents of the new town and become a meaningful undertaking."
