Yangju City Invites Resident Participatory Budget Project Proposals for the 2027 Budget
Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province is holding an intensive public contest for resident participatory budgeting projects for the 2027 budget until April 30.
The resident participatory budgeting system is designed to guarantee resident participation in the budget formulation process and thereby enhance the democracy and transparency of local finance. Any person who is a Yangju citizen, or a worker or student whose workplace or school is located in Yangju, can propose a project.
This year, the total size of the contest is up to 1 billion won, and the city will accept proposals for public-interest projects from which many residents can benefit. Project proposals can be submitted online through the Yangju City Hall website, by mail, or in person at eup, myeon, and dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
The submitted projects will be reviewed by the relevant departments and then finally selected through step-by-step procedures, including deliberation by the Citizen Committee for Participatory Budgeting. The selected projects will be reflected in the 2027 main budget after a resolution by the City Council.
Shim Yoonjeong, Head of the Budget Planning Division of Yangju City, said, "We ask for the great interest and active participation of citizens so that the diverse opinions of local residents can be reflected in the budget and become the foundation for the development of our city."
