Gangwon Province Launches Lunar New Year Campaign to Promote "Gangwon Tourism Year" and Mishiryeong Healing Road
Joint Initiative by Gangwon Province, Gangwon Tourism Foundation, and Mishiryeong East-West Through Road Co., Ltd.
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jintae), together with the Gangwon Tourism Foundation and Mishiryeong East-West Through Road Co., Ltd., conducted a campaign at Gapyeong Rest Area ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday to promote the "Gangwon Tourism Year (2025-2026)" and the Mishiryeong Healing Road.

View original imageA total of about 30 people took part in the campaign, including the Director General of Construction and Transportation of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, the SOC Policy Officer, the Head of the Road Division, staff members of the Road Division, and employees of the Gangwon Tourism Foundation and Mishiryeong East-West Through Road Co., Ltd.
The participants promoted tourist destinations in Gangwon by handing out tourism guidebooks and souvenirs to visitors using the Gapyeong Rest Area.
The province and participating organizations focused on promoting the Mishiryeong Healing Road and major tourist attractions so that people returning home for the holidays and tourists would choose to visit Gangwon during the Lunar New Year period.
In particular, they introduced the nine scenic spots of the Mishiryeong Healing Road: Sutasa Temple on Gongjak Mountain, Garisan Leisure Sports Park, Yongso Valley, Wondaeri Birch Forest, Hapgangjeong Pavilion & Bungee Jump, Soyang River Dulle-gil Trail, Sibi Seonnyeotang Valley (Twelve Fairy Bath Valley), Baekdamsa Temple, and Ulsanbawi Rock, raising expectations for increased visits.

Lee Jonggu, Director General of Construction and Transportation of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, said, "Through this campaign, we were able to promote the Mishiryeong Healing Road, which can be accessed by detouring via the Donghongcheon Interchange when the Seoul-Yangyang Expressway is congested, as well as hidden tourist attractions across the province, to many people."
