The core of the project proposed by Yeoncheon County is for farmers to use the DMZ civilian control protection area to cultivate hemp on a large scale and to link this with local processing, research, and industrialization stages. In particular, the county plans to form a consortium that incorporates field smart agriculture technology to enhance productivity and stability, while aiming to build a sustainable agricultural and industrial ecosystem through linkages with local industries.
The county expects that, if this promotion zone designation is realized, it will generate a wide range of ripple effects, including increased farm household income, job creation in the region, strengthening of the green bio and food industry base, and the establishment of a specialized industrial model for the border area.
