The facility is to be created as a complex space encompassing functions for play, experience, counseling, culture, and history.
At the final briefing, the comprehensive results of the entire research process were shared, and presentations were made on the basic plan and operation plan for the Gwangju-si Aibareun Growth Center, the detailed floor-by-floor spatial layout and program proposals, the organizational structure and budget estimates for each operational model, the step-by-step schedule for opening preparations, and future directions for utilization.
In addition, key opinions presented during the public-private joint preliminary inspection held on the 6th, which was attended by about 80 experts in child and community welfare, were reviewed and reflected in the final plan. Organizations scheduled to move into the facility, as well as child care and childcare service stakeholders, also attended and continued discussions on measures to ensure stability and professionalism in the facility’s operation.
The Gwangju-si Aibareun Growth Center will be built within Jungang Park with a total floor area of 15,455.02 square meters, consisting of two basement levels and four above-ground floors. The first floor will house an indoor adventure play area, an infant and toddler playground, a book cafe, and indoor rest areas. The second floor will include a branch of the Childcare Support Center, a toy rental room, program rooms, counseling rooms, seminar rooms, and an experience space for infants and toddlers. The third floor will accommodate a small performance hall, program rooms, individual and group counseling rooms, and the Children and Social Welfare Meal Service Management Support Center. On the fourth floor, a complex experience space combining Gwangju’s history, climate ecology, culture and arts, and artificial-intelligence-based physical activities will be created, along with a multipurpose room and outdoor rest areas.
