In particular, by simultaneously implementing preventive repair projects to prepare for disasters, it secured structural stability and further solidified the foundation for cultural heritage preservation.
In 2025, 1,850 million won (1,295 million won in national funds, 228 million won in provincial funds, and 227 million won in county funds) was invested in four projects in the field of repair and maintenance of nationally designated heritage. Major projects included the dismantling and repair of the Three-story Stone Pagoda at Jinjeonsa Temple Site, repair and maintenance of the management building of the Haesu Gwaneumjeon Hall at Naksansa Temple, and a pine wilt disease control project in the areas of Yangyang Hajodae and Naksansa Temple. Through these efforts, the county secured the safety of national heritage and enhanced both its academic value and its potential as a tourism resource.
In the field of provincially designated heritage, 855 million won (342 million won in provincial funds and 513 million won in county funds) was invested in four projects. Repairs were completed on the Yangyang House of Kim Taekjun and the Yangyang House of Lee Duhyeong, and the dancheong (traditional decorative painting) work on the Iljumun Gate of Myeongjusa Temple was finished, contributing to the restoration of the function of traditional buildings and the succession of cultural heritage value.
In the area of disaster safety management, the county promoted a 450 million won project (315 million won in national funds, 41 million won in provincial funds, and 94 million won in county funds) to improve fire-fighting facilities at Naksansa Temple, greatly enhancing its fire response capabilities.
Yangyang-gun plans to expand the number of national heritage repair, maintenance, and disaster safety management projects to 12 in 2026, thereby strengthening its proactive preservation and management system.
First, it will fully implement the dismantling and repair of the Three-story Stone Pagoda at Jinjeonsa Temple Site, while simultaneously conducting an excavation survey to identify the structure beneath the pagoda. In addition, through conservation treatment of the Three-story Stone Pagoda at Seonrimwon Temple Site and the Stupa of Monk Doeui at Jinjeonsa Temple Site, the county will work to preserve the original form of stone cultural heritage.
Furthermore, the county plans to carry out step-by-step repair projects for traditional temples such as Naksansa Temple, Yeonghyeolsa Temple, and Myeongjusa Temple, in order to continuously maintain the preservation value of these buildings.
Disaster prevention projects will also be expanded. Yangyang-gun will continue to maintain remote national heritage monitoring systems at sites such as Jinjeonsa Temple Site and Seonrimwon Temple Site, and improve the security system within the precincts of Naksansa Temple. In addition, by installing automatic fire alarm and rapid notification systems and upgrading fire extinguishing facilities at fire-prone traditional houses and wooden buildings such as Yangyang Hyanggyo within this year, the county will strengthen its fire prevention system.
