Key officials, including Lee Sumin, Head of Marketing at Hurom, and Kim Steven, Executive Director and Head of ABS Business at LG Chem, attended the signing ceremony.
Under this agreement, LG Chem will supply mechanically recycled PCR ABS materials, and Hurom will apply them to major kitchen appliances such as juicer housings. Hurom is a global kitchen appliance specialist that currently exports its products to 88 countries worldwide.
LG Chem's PCR ABS is characterized by achieving impact resistance, heat resistance, and processability equivalent to conventional ABS products, despite being a mechanically recycled material. It is also the first recycled material in the world to successfully realize a white color, enabling broad application across kitchen appliances where design elements are important.
The two companies plan to jointly plan products that use eco-friendly materials and, based on this, carry out eco-friendly marketing activities together. In Korea, the "Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources" was recently amended, and the mandatory use of recycled raw materials will be gradually strengthened starting in 2026. As a result, the application of eco-friendly materials is emerging as a key factor in product competitiveness, particularly in the home appliance and consumer goods industries.
"Through our collaboration with LG Chem, we will expand our lineup of eco-friendly products that can put sustainable health values into practice," said Lee Sumin, Head of Marketing at Hurom.
"We will continue to expand our eco-friendly ABS product lineup, including PCR ABS, and strengthen our differentiated competitiveness," said Kim Steven, Executive Director and Head of ABS Business at LG Chem.
