This camp was a follow-up project to the "AI-Based Education Cooperation Agreement" signed by the two institutions and has drawn attention as an innovative education model that links university and secondary school curricula.
A total of 81 high school students from schools in Seoul participated in the two-day camp held from the 5th. The students learned the basic principles of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) based on graphics processing units (GPUs), and enhanced their problem-solving skills by directly carrying out the entire AI development process from data collection to model design, training, and performance improvement.
The students also had the opportunity to visit the GPU server room of the Big Data and AI Research Institute for Urban Science at the University of Seoul, where they experienced the university's cutting-edge research environment firsthand.
Jeon Inhan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, said, "This camp is a meaningful achievement in that it expanded universal AI education by sharing the university's excellent educational capabilities with the local community," adding, "We will continue to spare no effort to foster the next generation of AI talent based on strong cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education."
