A total of 1,303 trains, including KTX and conventional trains operating from the 13th to the 18th, will offer discounts of up to 50% on fares for unoccupied seats. Tickets will be on sale until midnight on the 12th, and trains running on Lunar New Year’s Day are excluded.
There is also a product called "Four People for 99,000 Won," which allows four passengers to take a one-way KTX trip for 99,000 won. For the Jungang Line, Gangneung Line, Jungbunaeryuk Line, and Donghae Line KTX-Eum (semi-high-speed), a one-way set product for four passengers is being sold for 49,000 won. This comes out to around the 12,000-won range per person.
During the holiday period, trains will operate an average of 754 times per day, for a total of 4,524 runs over six days, and 2.12 million seats will be supplied, an increase of 110,000 seats compared with normal operations.
If passengers lose an item on a train, they should report it to the nearest station office or the railway customer center. Lost items are kept at the relevant station for one week and then transferred to the police, and they can also be searched through the National Police Agency’s Integrated Lost and Found System (LOST112). If passengers discover scalping, they can report it through the scalping report section on the Korail website or the "Korail Talk" app.
Meanwhile, Korail has designated the six days from the 13th to the 18th as the "Lunar New Year Special Transport Period" and will implement special transport measures. To prepare for contingencies, Korail has deployed 26 standby trains across major stations and rolling stock depots nationwide. It has also deployed locomotives for towing trains at 15 stations across the country: Seoul, Uiwang, Cheongnyangni, Cheonan, Daejeonjo, Gimcheon, Pohang, Dongdaegu, Busan, Iksan, Gwangju, Suncheon, Jecheon, Yeongju, and Hongseong.

At 48 stations including Seoul, Susaek, and Yongsan, 151 members of mobile maintenance teams will be on duty, and 69 repair experts will stand by at 15 rolling stock depots nationwide. An additional 228 guides will be deployed daily on platforms and transfer sections where congestion is expected. Starting on the 13th, a 24-hour special transport countermeasures headquarters will also be operated to continuously monitor train operations and related conditions.
