Paju City Fully Prepares for Lunar New Year Holiday with "No Inconvenience, Warm Livelihood Support" Plan
Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on February 10 that it will implement the "2026 Lunar New Year Holiday Comprehensive Plan" for five days from February 14 to 18, which is the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The city will organize 16 task forces across four areas - livelihood, convenience, safety, and transportation - and deploy a total of 230 personnel to concentrate its administrative capacity so that citizens can enjoy a safe and comfortable holiday.
First, to promote livelihood stability ahead of the peak holiday shopping season, the city will implement various economic support measures in line with government policies. It will raise the cap on local currency top-up benefits to 1 million won (10%), the highest level in the country, and will refund 5% of the payment amount from February 9 to 20.
In addition, when paying 10,000 won or more with credit cards (Lotte, BC, Samsung, Woori, Hana, and NH Nonghyup) at 75 designated "Good Price Stores" within the city, customers will receive a 2,000-won discount. From February 13 to 22, the city will also issue additional discount coupons (3,000 won and 5,000 won) through the public delivery app "Baedal Teukgeup," with the aim of revitalizing the local economy, which has been weakened by sluggish domestic demand.
To ensure citizen safety, the city will operate a 24-hour disaster situation room and continuously monitor weather conditions such as strong winds to respond preemptively. Before the holiday, it will inspect safety at large construction sites and, during the holiday period, provide smooth traffic services through support for traffic control in congested areas, emergency dispatch for damaged road facilities, and free access to 42 public parking lots.
In addition, four hospitals - Paju Hospital, Medi-in Hospital, Munsan Jungang Hospital, and Mucheok Joeun Hospital - will operate 24-hour emergency rooms, and information on 336 medical institutions and pharmacies open during the holiday will be posted on the Paju City Hall website to improve citizens' access to medical services.
