From Maritime Kingdom to Funerary Culture... "Gaya Academy" at the National Gaya History and Culture Center
Held on the last Wednesday of every month from the 25th to June
Expert lectures under the theme "Gaya in Ancient History"
A venue for in-depth exploration of Gaya history is opening.
The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage’s National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute announced on the 10th that it will hold a civic academy titled "Gaya in Ancient History" at the auditorium of the National Gaya History and Culture Center on the last Wednesday of every month from the 25th until June.
This lecture series aims to shed new light on the true nature of Gaya, which played a crucial role in our ancient history. Going beyond a simple introduction to history, it delves three-dimensionally into the lives and deaths of the Gaya people and the civilization they built, through concrete themes such as maritime exchange, capital-city systems, and funerary culture.
The program will begin with Professor Kim Ilgyu of Pusan National University speaking on "Gaya, the Maritime Kingdom" (on the 25th), followed by Curator Kim Jiyeon of the National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute on "The Capital-City System of Gaya" (March 25), Director Park Seungkyu of the Gaya Cultural Properties Research Institute on "Pictographic Pottery of Gaya" (April 29), Curator Kim Suhwan of the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Government on "Funerary Culture of Gaya" (May 27), and Curator Kim Hyeongcheol of the National Gaya Cultural Heritage Research Institute on "Everyday Culture of Gaya" (June 24).
