Yeosu World Islands Expo Announces Open Call for Performance Groups for the "Island Performing Arts Festival"
The 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Organizing Committee (hereinafter the "Organizing Committee") announced that it will hold an open call to recruit performance groups for the "2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo Island Performing Arts Festival" in order to discover performance content themed around islands.
This open call has been prepared to select outstanding works that can express the theme and direction of the Islands Expo through performing arts, and to present high-quality cultural and artistic content to visitors during the Expo period.

View original imageThe call is open to professional arts organizations capable of staging performances themed on island culture and island residents, and applications are limited to four genres: Korean traditional music, dance, theater, and musical. Applicant organizations must have at least one performance record per year over the past three years, and individuals are not eligible to apply.
The Organizing Committee will select a total of four teams, including arts organizations from the Yeosu region. Once selected, each team will present approximately four performances at a special venue.
The selected performance groups will receive performance fees of up to around 30 million won per work, with amounts differentiated by group. They will also be provided with basic stage facilities required for the performances, sound and lighting systems, and promotional support through the Organizing Committee's official publicity channels.
Applications will be accepted until February 20, 2026, and can be submitted only via email. The Organizing Committee will conduct a document review and a presentation review to select the final performance groups. The results of the open call will be individually notified and announced on the Islands Expo website on March 27, 2026.
