[Today's New Arrivals] The Grandeur of Bukhansan as Dessert... Four New Cakes from Anto and The Plaza
"600-Year Ginkgo Tree Cake" with Realistic Wood Texture
The Plaza Unveils Valentine's Day Cake with Pistachio Crunch
Hanwha Hotels & Resorts announced on February 2 that Anto and The Plaza will be launching four new cakes.
First, Anto has incorporated iconic elements of the hotel into its designs, creating three lineups: Four Seasons Signature, Special, and Seasonal. Of particular note, the "Bukhansan Four Season Petit," inspired by the grandeur of Bukhansan Mountain, accounted for more than half of last year’s total sales, reflecting its popularity. This year, a whole cake version has been added, featuring seasonal ingredients such as yuzu, mugwort, and chestnut. The cakes are colored differently for each season, offering a variety of flavors and visual appeal.
The "600-Year Ginkgo Tree Cake," symbolizing Anto’s history, uses dark chocolate artistry to depict the tree’s texture and the earth. Layers of Earl Grey mousse, passion fruit, and apricot cream are stacked on a chocolate sponge. The "Log Petit" cake employs a special chocolate spray technique to replicate the texture of real wood, while the combination of French premium Valrhona chocolate and cherries adds depth of flavor. Both cakes are presented with different colors and decorations each season, adding visual enjoyment.
The Special Line’s "Chef’s Mistake: Ugly Cake" playfully challenges the notion that cakes must be beautiful, with its intentionally misshapen appearance as if it had fallen and been squashed. The rainbow sponge is layered with fresh milk cream and berry sauce to ensure great taste as well. In addition, classic seasonal options such as "Strawberry Shortcake" and "Black Forest" are also available. Prices start at 21,000 won, and residents near Nowon, Dobong, Gangbuk, and Seongbuk districts are eligible for a 10% discount.
The Plaza has released a seasonal cake for Valentine’s Day: a raspberry chocolate mousse cake with caramel and mocha ganache, decorated with red roses and hearts. Inside the heart-shaped chocolate is a trendy pistachio crunch, adding a crispy texture. The cake will be available for purchase until March 15, with a price of 88,000 won.
