Rideflux Launches Late-Night Autonomous BRT Service in Busan
Service Operates from 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
Round-Trip Route of 10.4 km Between Haeundae Station and Dongnae Station
Autonomous driving software startup Rideflux announced on January 26 that it will launch a late-night autonomous Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service in Busan starting that day.
This service is a fully public autonomous public transportation option available to all citizens during late-night hours, after the regular BRT operations have ended.
Rideflux's late-night autonomous BRT will operate with one 9-meter electric bus, which can accommodate up to 15 passengers per vehicle. The service will run from 11:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. on weekdays.
The bus will operate on a round-trip route covering approximately 10.4 kilometers between Haeundae Station and Dongnae Station on Busan Subway Line 2. This service aims to fill the public transportation gap after regular BRT operations end, improving mobility for citizens and connecting major subway stations and key locations.
Rideflux has equipped the vehicle with eight cameras and six LiDAR sensors, enabling 360-degree real-time detection of surrounding vehicles, pedestrians, and objects. The autonomous cooperative driving function, integrated with the smart road system along the route, provides more stable operation. If an unexpected situation occurs during operation, a safety officer will intervene to enhance operational safety.
Last year, Rideflux expanded citizens’ access to autonomous driving by launching an autonomous bus service in the Osiria Tourism Complex in Busan.
