"Powerful Snowstorm" Forecast in U.S.; 18 Flights Canceled by Korean Air and Others

Asiana Airlines and Air Premia Each Cancel 2 Flights
As a powerful snowstorm is forecast to hit the central and eastern regions of the United States over the weekend, South Korean airlines operating flights to and from U.S. airports have so far canceled more than 10 flights.
According to the airline industry on January 24, as of 2:30 p.m. local time (12:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 24), Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Air Premia, which operate U.S.-bound routes from Incheon International Airport, have canceled a total of 18 flights due to the impact of the winter storm.

On this day, two flights-KE031, which was scheduled to depart from Incheon Airport to Dallas, Texas at 10:20 a.m. local time, and the return flight KE032-were canceled.
On January 25, 11 flights were canceled, including two round-trip flights between Incheon and Atlanta (KE035, KE036), Incheon and Washington, D.C. (KE093, KE094), Incheon and New York (KE081, KE082, KE085), Incheon and Boston (KE091, KE092), and Incheon and Dallas (KE031, KE032). On January 26, the New York-to-Incheon flight (KE086) was canceled.
Asiana Airlines canceled two flights: OZ222, scheduled to depart from Incheon to New York at 9:00 a.m. on January 25, and OZ221, the return flight from New York to Incheon at 1:00 a.m. on January 26.
Air Premia canceled two flights: YP131, scheduled to depart from Incheon to New York (Newark) at 9:55 p.m. on January 25, and YP132, the return flight from New York to Incheon on January 26.
Depending on weather conditions in the central and eastern United States, where the snowstorm is forecast, additional cancellations may be announced through January 27.
Each airline stated that passengers scheduled to board canceled flights are being notified immediately, and that itinerary changes or refunds are being offered without fees or penalties upon request. However, since the cancellations were announced in advance due to a natural disaster, no additional compensation will be provided.
Global airlines are also canceling a large number of scheduled flights on U.S. routes due to the impact of this winter storm.

According to the flight tracking website FlightAware, a total of 3,148 domestic and international flights in the United States scheduled for this day have been canceled. For January 25, 5,068 flights have already been canceled.
