Gyeongsan City Greatly Improves Living Conditions with Opening of Urban Planning Road
Opening of Urban Planning Road Between Baegokgyo and Baeknonggyo in Seobu 1-dong
Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced on December 31 that the construction of Urban Planning Road Jungno 3-24, located on the right bank of the Namcheon River between Baegokgyo and Baeknonggyo in the Okgok-dong area, has been completed.
The existing road has long served as a major bypass from the downtown area toward Namcheon, but as a narrow 3.5-meter-wide embankment road along the river, it has caused significant inconvenience for local residents and road users. This has led to ongoing calls for the establishment of an official urban planning road.
In response, Gyeongsan City invested a total project cost of 3.8 billion won to construct a 1,260-meter-long, 12-meter-wide road, beginning construction in February 2021 and recently completing the project to enhance convenience for citizens and road users.
With the opening of this road, sidewalks have been installed on both sides of the two-lane road, ensuring pedestrian safety. This is expected to significantly improve the living environment for nearby residents and the convenience of transportation for road users.
In particular, the newly constructed section includes the Namcheon Water Playground and the Gyeongsan Namcheon Okbit Park Golf Course, which opened in November. As a result, accessibility and transportation convenience for citizens using these leisure facilities are also expected to improve greatly.
