Playconomy Successfully Concludes 1st "Playconomy Times IP Contest"
Playconomy, a company specializing in the development of children's economic education content, announced on December 24 that the "1st Playconomy Times IP Contest" has concluded successfully.
Playconomy Times, an elementary school economic newspaper published by Playconomy, held the contest on December 14. After learning about topics such as intellectual property (IP), copyright, and initial public offerings (IPO), participants had the opportunity to create their own IPs as part of the competition.
The contest was themed "Create an IP that will lead Playconomy to become a listed company!" Children attracted significant attention by using ChatGPT to design characters themselves and expand their story universes through conversations with their parents.
The entries went beyond simple character design and were created based on a variety of criteria, including the IP's universe, economic significance, brand expansion potential, and the direction of Playconomy. Each work reflected the children's thoughts, philosophies, and perspectives on economics. The winners of this contest were selected fairly through a voting process.
The grand prize went to Kim Minjeong, a fourth-grade student at Sangdong Elementary School in Geoje. Kim submitted a character named "Pulco," a passionate teacher who inspires children's interest in economics. "Pulco" was highly praised for expressing the power of learning and growth through its eyes, facial expressions, and overall message, resonating with many. The grand prize winner will receive a one-year subscription to the Playconomy Times and a copy of "The Traveling House Duck, Ducky" published by Book Ocean.
The second prize (Silver Award) was awarded to Song Wooseok, a fourth-grade student at Geumpo Elementary School in Daegu. Song's entry, featuring a squirrel collecting acorns, was highly regarded for its cute and intuitive explanation of the economic concept that small actions accumulate into value. The potential for expanding the IP story also drew attention. The second prize winner will receive a three-month subscription to Playconomy Times and a book from Book Ocean.
The third prize was awarded to Kwon Dain, a fifth-grade student at McAllister Elementary School; Oh Seowon, a third-grade student at Nokbeon Elementary School in Seoul; and Lee Daeun, a third-grade student at Wonho Elementary School in Gumi.
Jisuhee, CEO of Playconomy, stated, "This contest was an event that truly reflected Playconomy's educational philosophy of enabling children to experience economics through play and hands-on activities."
