Gongju City Secures 53.8 Billion Won in Provincial Funding... Commits 117.6 Billion Won to Regional Balanced Development
Seven Projects Finalized for Phase 2, Round 2 of Chungnam Regional Balanced Development
Gongju City is accelerating the establishment of a future growth foundation by securing large-scale national and provincial funding through the Chungnam Regional Balanced Development Project.
A total of 117.6 billion won will be invested in seven projects, ranging from Geumgang ecological and cultural tourism to Baekje Royal Capital digital heritage and the promotion of food and digital industries, signaling the full-scale implementation of Gongju’s development strategy.
On the 23rd, Gongju City announced that seven projects have been confirmed for the second phase, second round of the Chungnam Regional Balanced Development Project.
According to the city, the province recently held the 6th Balanced Development Committee meeting, where it gave final approval to four autonomous city and county projects submitted by Gongju City.
The newly selected projects include: ▲ Four-Season Geumgang Cultural Content Development Project ▲ Geumgang Happiness Garden Foundation Project ▲ Baekje Royal Capital Digital Heritage Center Establishment Project ▲ 1940 Cultural Brewery Establishment Project, with a total project cost reaching 47.6 billion won.
In addition to three projects confirmed last September-▲ Baekje Cultural Complex Establishment Project ▲ Food Safety R&D Cluster Foundation Project ▲ G-Digital Innovation Platform Construction Project-this latest selection brings the total to seven projects included in the Chungcheongnam-do Regional Balanced Development Project.
These projects will receive a total investment of 117.6 billion won, including 53.8 billion won in provincial funding, and will be implemented in phases over five years from 2026 to 2030.
The city plans to swiftly establish detailed implementation plans for each project and expedite related administrative procedures to accelerate project progress.
In particular, the city will focus its administrative capabilities on expanding the ecological and cultural tourism infrastructure centered on the Geumgang area, as well as fostering future growth industries in the digital and food sectors.
The city expects this initiative to serve as an opportunity not only to expand cultural and tourism infrastructure but also to simultaneously advance industrial structure and strengthen the foundation for sustainable regional growth.
