Bernard Werber's "The Ants" to Be Adapted into a Webtoon

Kakao Entertainment announced on December 23 that it will release a webtoon adaptation of the novel "Gaemi" (The Ants) by French author Bernard Werber on KakaoPage and Kakao Webtoon.
This project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency as part of the 2025 Global Webtoon Intellectual Property (IP) Production Support Program. The series will be serialized in approximately 250 episodes.
The novel "Gaemi" was first introduced in Korea in 1993. It became beloved for its story, which unfolds by alternating between the worlds of humans and ants.
The webtoon has been produced by Kenaz over about two years. It is illustrated by artist Kim Yonghoe, known for works such as "Why Did You Come to Goblin Hill?", "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and "Dr. Pine's Day."

Like the original novel, the story begins as Jonathan Wells inherits a house according to his uncle's will. Kakao Entertainment explained, "While alternating episodes between human and ant communities, we focused on each character's narrative to capture the unique pacing of the webtoon format."
