Busan Transportation Corporation Wins 18th Education Mecenat Award for Contributions to Educational Donations
Eighth Award Received
Hands-On Career and Safety Education Programs in Operation
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) received the Education Mecenat Award at the 18th Education Mecenat Award Ceremony, held at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education on the afternoon of December 18. With this achievement, Busan Transportation Corporation has now received the Education Mecenat Award for the eighth time.
The Education Mecenat Award Ceremony is jointly organized by Busan Metropolitan City, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Busan Ilbo. The event recognizes organizations and individuals who have contributed to the development of local education and the spread of the culture of educational donations throughout the year. This year, a total of 42 organizations, companies, groups, and individuals were honored with awards.
Busan Transportation Corporation was selected as a distinguished organization for "Revitalizing Educational Donations" in recognition of its various educational donation activities targeting youth. In particular, the corporation was highly praised for its cumulative educational donations amounting to approximately 100 million won this year and for its consistent operation of hands-on career education and safety education programs.
Since signing a business agreement with the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education in 2016, the corporation has continuously operated career experience programs that allow participants to directly experience railway-related jobs such as train operators, controllers, and station staff, as well as safety education programs that are helpful in everyday life.
Furthermore, by establishing an industry-academia cooperation system with Silla University, the corporation has introduced new career experience programs that link the railway and aviation sectors, thereby expanding the scope of its educational donations.
Through these efforts, the corporation has introduced youth not only to railway professions such as train operators and controllers, but also to a variety of career paths including airplane pilots and cabin crew, supporting students in their career and academic planning and providing broader opportunities for career exploration. In November, the corporation was re-certified as an "Outstanding Educational Donation Organization" by the Ministry of Education, further demonstrating the competitiveness and sustainability of its educational donation initiatives.
