20 Bedrooms and 9 Bathrooms... 9,300-Pyeong Scottish Castle Listed for the Price of a London Studio Apartment
Kinloch Castle in Scotland Listed for 1.3 Billion Won
Maintenance and Restoration Costs Expected to Be High
A massive castle built in Scotland, United Kingdom, has been put up for sale, drawing the attention of international internet users. The price of the castle is reportedly comparable to that of a one-room apartment in London.
Recently, the British newspaper Daily Mail reported that Kinloch Castle, located on the Isle of Rum in Scotland, has been listed for sale at 700,000 pounds (approximately 1.3 billion won). According to the outlet, this is similar to the price of a one-room apartment in London.

The castle also features a hallway that doubles as a gallery, a drawing room, a dining room, a billiards room, a smoking room, a ballroom, a library, and various other facilities.
Additionally, the interior is decorated with 19th-century ornaments, taxidermy animals, and portraits. Many rare collectibles gathered by Sir George Bullough, the castle’s former owner, during his travels around the world are reportedly still preserved inside.
In contrast, a home in central London that can be purchased for the same amount is only the size of a small studio. As a result, online reactions included comments such as, "I can't believe you can buy a castle for the price of a studio apartment," "London real estate prices are insane," and "If I could find a job there, this is the house I'd want to buy."
However, a major drawback is the high maintenance cost due to aging. A real estate agent told the Daily Mail, "Although some repairs have been made, a large-scale restoration costing at least 10 million pounds (about 19.7 billion won) would be required to properly use it as a residence or accommodation facility."

There are also geographical limitations, as the castle is located on a remote island far from the British mainland. Since it is inaccessible by road, travel to and from the island is only possible by boat, and annual management costs for the island are said to be considerable.
