Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office Transfers Park Narae "Injection Aunt" Case to Police
The prosecution has transferred the case involving broadcaster Park Narae, who was suspected of receiving medical services from a woman known as "Injection Aunt," to the police after receiving a complaint.
On December 16, the Food and Drug Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had received and reviewed a complaint filed by former Korean Medical Association president Lim Hyuntaek, who accused Ms. Lee, also known as "Injection Aunt," of violating the Medical Service Act and other charges. After review, the prosecution determined that some aspects of the case did not fall within the scope of direct investigation by the prosecution and therefore transferred the case to the police.
Former president Lim had previously reported through the National Sinmungo system that Ms. Lee illegally obtained pharmaceuticals and engaged in unlicensed medical practices.
He also filed a separate complaint against Park Narae and an unidentified woman referred to as "IV Aunt," alleging that Park Narae received medical services from this other individual as well, and accused both of violating the Medical Service Act. This case was also transferred from the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office to the police for the same reason.
The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office specializes in investigating food and drug crimes, including cases such as pharmaceutical rebates and surrogate surgeries performed by employees of medical device companies.
