Reduced from 4-5 Steps to Just Two
Simpler Than Industry Peers Like Naver and Kurly

Coupang has simplified the cancellation process for its paid membership, "Wow Membership." This change appears to be in response to complaints from members about the cumbersome withdrawal and cancellation procedures, as well as recommendations from lawmakers and government authorities to address these issues.

According to industry sources on December 12, Coupang has reduced the cancellation process for Wow Membership within its own application to just two steps. Customers wishing to cancel can go to the "My Coupang" page, navigate to "Settings," and then, on the "Wow Membership" screen, simply select "Cancel" and "Complete Cancellation Request" to finish the process.

Previously, the Personal Information Protection Commission and other government agencies pointed out that making it difficult for Wow Membership members to quickly cancel or withdraw was inappropriate. In response, Coupang had already reduced the withdrawal process from six steps to four, and as of today, has also simplified the paid membership cancellation process.

In the past, members had to go through several pages discouraging cancellation, such as "Stop Receiving Wow-Only Benefits," "Give Up Wow-Only Coupons," and "Survey" on the cancellation page. Now, the process has been greatly simplified. The fact that membership cancellation can be completed in just two steps is notably simpler compared to other industry players like Naver or Kurly.

For Coupang Membership, if the service has not been used, immediate cancellation and refund are possible regardless of the membership period. The Coupang Play Sports Pass subscription can be canceled through the Google Store or Apple Store.
