Mayor Lee: "Let’s Work So Citizens Can Use the Tram Even One Day Sooner"
Visit to Tram Line 2 Construction Site
Inspection of Section 10 Progress and Traffic Congestion Around Gyebaek-ro
On December 11, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo visited the construction site of Section 10 of Urban Railway Line 2 (Tram) in Jeongnim-dong, Seo-gu, to personally inspect the progress, traffic management measures, and safety management status.
This inspection was conducted to visit sites where citizen inconvenience is expected due to the reduction of lanes on Gyebaek-ro, check the progress of the construction, and seek ways to minimize inconvenience for citizens.
Section 10 covers a 2.1-kilometer stretch from Gasuwon Bridge in Jeongnim-dong to the Seobu Office of Education in Doma-dong. Currently, earth retaining structures (temporary facilities) and earthworks are underway for a 560-meter underground section crossing the Honam Line.
During the on-site inspection, Mayor Lee focused on checking the safety of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, measures to protect on-site workers from the cold during winter, and whether traffic control situations were being properly announced and promoted. He also urged those in charge to ensure thorough safety management and construction quality.
Daejeon City continues to implement measures to minimize traffic inconvenience, such as deploying traffic controllers during commuting hours, securing detour routes, and maintaining guide signs. The city also promptly provides construction updates to citizens through the city hall website and social media channels.
Mayor Lee stated, "As some inconvenience to citizens is inevitable during the construction process, I ask that everyone on site respond with a strong sense of responsibility and attention to detail. Let us work together so that citizens can use the tram as soon as possible, even if it is just one day earlier."
