Hanam City Selected as an Excellent City for Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Learning Opportunity Zone Project
Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Hyunjae) achieved the distinction of being selected as an "Excellent City for Lifelong Learning Opportunity Zones in Gyeonggi Province" at the "2025 Gyeonggi Province Lifelong Learning Opportunity Zone Performance Sharing Meeting" hosted by the Gyeonggi-do Lifelong Education Promotion Institute on December 10. The city was recognized for its successful implementation of a regionally specialized Geo-Industry-Academia lifelong learning model that addresses local issues through lifelong education.

View original imageAccording to the city on December 11, Hanam was selected for a Gyeonggi Province public project in June and, from August to November, carried out customized lifelong learning initiatives aimed at resolving key issues for creating a business-friendly city. The city was recognized for its outstanding achievement in successfully realizing a business-friendly learning ecosystem project that supports employees, CEOs, and corporate competency enhancement.
To this end, the Hanam City Lifelong Education Division, the Hanam City Business Association, and the Misadong Coffee Community Cooperative signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). The operation of the nation’s first corporate lifelong learning centers in collaboration with two knowledge industry centers was a major achievement of the Geo-Industry-Academia partnership, contributing to the creation of a learning environment where over 1,000 employees and businesspeople could more easily access educational opportunities.
The main projects included: ▲Expanding after-work lifelong learning programs for employees (Employee Learning Hanam); ▲CEO leadership lectures and management book discussion classes (CEO Study Hanam); ▲Providing business etiquette and communication skills training, as well as learning consulting (Corporate Communication Hanam); and ▲Barista certification and promotion of Hanam’s coffee production area for employees preparing for career transitions (Misadong Coffee Hanam). In total, 29 courses were offered across these four areas, greatly enhancing the happiness and life satisfaction of employees and businesspeople by providing opportunities to enjoy diverse lifelong learning programs near their workplaces without having to travel far after work.

Mayor Lee Hyunjae stated, "We will continue to strive to create a residential environment in Hanam where people can do business, work, live, and learn," adding, "We will further promote cooperation among the public sector, private sector, and academia to establish a sustainable learning ecosystem so that lifelong learning can continue to contribute to solving local issues."
