This year, Wonju City actively promoted consumption-boosting policies that citizens could directly experience in their daily lives. In particular, the 'Wonju Taste Exploration 7 Event,' an employee participation initiative, helped promote hidden local restaurants and encouraged the use of small neighborhood eateries. The 'Wonju City Pangpang Sale Festa' and the 'Sale Festa with the Dumpling Festival' invigorated the overall local commercial district by stimulating consumer sentiment through discount events involving businesses and small merchants.
Wonju City continued to operate existing support programs for small businesses, such as management stabilization funds and customized consulting, and worked to ease the burden of delivery fees through a public-private partnership delivery app support project.
In the welfare sector, the city strengthened support for vulnerable groups and improved care environments by utilizing Angel Donation Funds and designated contributions to assist households in crisis and by providing special activity fees for daycare centers.
Wonju City reinforced a virtuous cycle of increased visitor inflow and expanded local consumption by holding the first Wonju Ramyeon Festival and expanding major festivals such as the Wonju Dumpling Festival and the Dancing Carnival.
In the agricultural sector, the city broadened the consumption base for local agricultural and livestock products through initiatives such as agricultural subsidies, welfare vouchers for female farmers, and special sales events for agricultural and specialty products. The city also worked to protect local businesses and support livelihood stability by maintaining rivers and park green spaces, enhancing information services for construction companies, and providing reductions in water and sewage fees.
Based on the results of this review, Wonju City plans to continuously supplement and expand its livelihood economy policies next year.
