In 2024, the corporation established a framework for ESG management, including its ESG management mission and vision, thereby strengthening the momentum for ESG initiatives. Additionally, by operating the ESG Management Committee and institutionalizing ESG training for all employees, the organization has solidified its foundation for implementation. This has enabled the company to apply ESG values not only to transportation services but also to internal operations and decision-making processes throughout the organization.
The corporation has also achieved balanced results in each area of ESG. In the environmental (E) category, it promoted the spread of low-carbon transportation systems and achieved carbon reduction by expanding electric low-floor buses and eco-friendly vehicles.
In the social (S) category, the corporation continued to hire socially disadvantaged individuals and obtained certification for its occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001). It also enhanced social value by increasing purchases of products from social enterprises. In the governance (G) category, the corporation raised its level of transparent management through certification of its anti-bribery management system (ISO 37001) and strengthened its internal control foundation by advancing its ethics and information protection systems.
Yang Wooseok, Acting President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, stated, "This award demonstrates that Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation is growing beyond a provider of public transportation services to become an organization that creates a sustainable future together with the residents of Gyeonggi Province," adding, "We will continue to strengthen ESG management based on our responsibilities as a public institution."
