Mayor Park Hyungjoon Meets with New Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris
Discusses Strategic Cooperation on Building a Future Vehicle Ecosystem and “New Vehicle Development”
Busan City and Renault Korea have met to discuss the future of the automotive industry.
On the morning of December 11, at the International Protocol Office of City Hall, Busan City announced that it had met with the new executive team of Renault Korea to discuss cooperation measures aimed at strengthening Busan’s future vehicle ecosystem and advancing its status as a global mobility hub.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Park Hyungjoon, Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris, the heads of the city’s Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion Departments, and Renault Korea Vice President Sang Heejung. They discussed key issues and directions for joint business initiatives.
Mayor Park and CEO Paris shared their commitment to ensuring the smooth progress of Renault Korea’s major projects. Both parties reaffirmed their intention to proceed as planned with core projects such as the new vehicle development project and the creation of the Busan Eco Cluster. Joint projects between the city and the company, including the export-driven future vehicle innovation growth technology support project, the future vehicle core parts collaborative R&D support project, and the establishment of the Giant Casting Shared Center, will also continue as scheduled.
The two sides also discussed establishing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based manufacturing innovation system and strategies to enhance the recognition of “Made in Busan.” The city aims to use these initiatives to elevate the competitiveness of Busan’s manufacturing sector to a global level.
Mayor Park also congratulated the official launch of exports of the “Polestar 4” to Canada. He stated, “This is a significant step that not only strengthens Renault Korea’s global competitiveness but also demonstrates tangible achievements in Busan’s manufacturing innovation.”
CEO Nicolas Paris, who took office in September, is a global mobility expert who has overseen the electronics and software sectors within the group. Busan City expects that his experience will bolster Renault Korea’s strategy for transitioning to future vehicles.
