The ceremony began with a tea meeting in the governor's office, followed by introductions of the attendees, greetings from the governors and council chairs, the reading and signing of the agreement, and an exchange of commemorative gifts. This was followed by a symbolic performance and commemorative photo session representing the joint effort to attract a horse racing park, reaffirming the two regions' commitment to joint prosperity and cooperation.
Through this private sector sisterhood agreement, Sunchang County and Damyang County plan to go beyond administrative cooperation and actively identify and promote practical, community-focused initiatives such as expanding exchanges between social organizations, sharing cultural, sports, and tourism programs, revitalizing the distribution and direct sales of local agricultural specialties, and cooperating on safety and crime prevention.
In particular, the two counties plan to gradually develop a variety of cooperative models, including the joint effort to attract a horse racing park, mutual visits to major tourist attractions, exchange of festival delegations, and reciprocal exchange programs between residents' autonomy, Saemaul Undong, sports, and women's organizations.
Governor Choi Youngil stated, "This agreement is a meaningful achievement that expands the mutually beneficial cooperation that Sunchang County and Damyang County have been pursuing in various fields, establishing a foundation for practical exchanges led by residents. In particular, I hope that key projects such as the effort to attract the Gwacheon Horse Racing Park, which is being promoted as part of the Honam Mutual Cooperation Project, will gain further momentum starting from this agreement ceremony."
