Hallym University Integrates AI Courseware Across All Subjects on LMS Platform for the First Time in Korea

Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) and Freewillin (CEO Kwon Kisung) signed a KELI (K-University AI Edutech and Learning Initiative) business agreement (MOU) at the Campus Life Center on campus on December 8 to establish a higher education-oriented 'AI-Integrated Instructional Model (AI-HiED, Artificial Intelligence-Integrated Instructional Model for Higher Education)' platform.

This agreement marks the first case in Korea of integrating AI courseware into all courses based on an LMS platform. As a university operating the "Higher Education Edutech Soft Lab Construction and Operation Project" for the past two years, Hallym University has verified the model and is now transitioning the AI-Integrated Instructional Model (AI-HiED) into an actual LMS operational environment.

The AI-HiED platform to be established under this agreement will link Freewillin's AI courseware 'PulleyCampus' with Hallym University's LMS 'SmartLEAD' using the LTI standard method. Through this integration, all learning functions-including basic academic ability diagnostics, AI-based personalized learning, supplementary content, assessment, and instructional design tools for faculty-will be operated in a single streamlined flow. By utilizing the standard LTI method, other universities can also adopt the AI courseware without separate development, ensuring scalability.

This platform will be applied starting from the 2025 winter session. Students will be able to access the entire process from diagnostics to individualized learning simply by logging into the LMS, while faculty will be able to flexibly organize the required courseware for general education, major, and extracurricular classes based on empirical data.

Choi Yanghee, President of Hallym University, stated, "Hallym University has been leading the way in AI and data-driven educational innovation through the Glocal University 30 project and the 'Higher Education Edutech Soft Lab Construction and Operation Project.' This agreement is a significant turning point in expanding these achievements to LMS-based educational operations."

Kwon Kisung, CEO of Freewillin, said, "Hallym University has been at the forefront of proposing directions for higher education innovation. Freewillin will support the realization of higher education-centered innovation by integrating its AI learning engine and empirical courseware into the LMS environment, going beyond technology-centric approaches."

This agreement is the first case in which the results of a government-led demonstration project have been transitioned into an actual educational operation system. Both institutions plan to continue joint research and demonstrations based on the KELI consultative body, further advancing higher education innovation through the enhancement of teaching and learning models, dissemination of empirical courseware, and the establishment of data-driven learning analytics systems.
