Three Candidates, Including Attorney Kim Sungsik, President Lee's Bar Exam Peer, Shortlisted for KDIC President
It has been reported that Kim Sungsik, an attorney who passed the bar exam in the same year as President Lee Jaemyung, is among the candidates for the next president of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC).
According to the financial sector on December 8, the KDIC's Executive Recommendation Committee conducted interviews for the next president on December 5, and three candidates were shortlisted: Attorney Kim Sungsik, former KDIC Vice President Kim Kwangnam, and former KDIC Standing Director Kim Younggil.
Attorney Kim Sungsik is a bar exam peer of President Lee Jaemyung and is an expert in the field of fair trade.
He is also known to have served as a member of the defense counsel in the abuse of power trial involving President Lee during his tenure as Governor of Gyeonggi Province.
Former Vice President Kim Kwangnam, who is an internal candidate from KDIC, previously served as Head of Risk Management Division 1 and Head of Savings Bank Normalization Division. During the last presidential election, he served as Co-Chairman of the More Economic Committee under the Democratic Square Committee, which was directly affiliated with candidate Lee Jaemyung.
Former Standing Director Kim Younggil previously served as the Chief Policy Specialist for the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea.

On this day, the KDIC labor union held a press conference in front of the KDIC headquarters in Jung-gu, urging, "We demand a true leader for KDIC who can protect 50 million depositors without being swayed by bureaucratic or political interests."
