As a result, the member suffered psychological trauma and physical injuries. The union proceeded with legal action based on the victim's statement, medical diagnosis, and on-site evidence.
Chairman Park Unpyeong emphasized, "Public officials are workers who serve citizens and are important members who support the local community. They must be protected safely from any form of violence or threats, and protecting union members is a fundamental responsibility of the labor union."
He also stated, "If public officials are intimidated by malicious complaints, it ultimately leads to a decline in the quality of public services, which harms all citizens. We will continue to take principled legal action to foster a healthy and mature civil complaint culture."
The union plans to implement various protection measures to prevent recurrence, including strengthening the legal support system, expanding psychological counseling for union members, and establishing a system to prevent secondary damage.
Chairman Park said, "We will stand together until the end so that no union member is left alone in the face of malicious complaints. Protecting the legitimate rights and safety of public officials is the beginning of a virtuous cycle for better administration and for citizens."
He added, "I hope this incident will serve as an opportunity to expand empathy and solidarity within the local community, and to further establish a civil complaint culture in which citizens and public officials mutually respect each other."
