Jaemyung Shim, CEO of Myung Films, to Receive Women in Film Achievement Award
Director Yoon Ga-eun and Actor Yoo Ji-tae Also Honored
Awards Ceremony to Be Held on December 16
Jaemyung Shim, who founded Myung Films and has led Korean film production for 30 years, will receive the Achievement Award at the Women in Film of the Year Awards.
The Women in Film Korea Association announced on December 8 that CEO Shim has been selected as the recipient of the Achievement Award. Director Yoon Ga-eun of the film "The Owner of the World" has been chosen for the Women in Film of the Year Award, while actor Yoo Ji-tae has been named the recipient of the Kang Soo-yeon Award.
CEO Shim has established herself as a first-generation female producer in Korea by producing films such as "The Contact," "Joint Security Area JSA," "Architecture 101," and "Forever the Moment." In 2014, during the production of the film "Venus Talk," she signed standard labor contracts with all staff members for the first time in Korean commercial cinema, marking a turning point in the adoption of standard contracts in the film industry.
She participated as a founding member of the Women in Film Korea Association in 2000 and has worked to promote the rights and expand the presence of women in the film industry. As the inaugural co-director of the Korean Film Gender Equality Center "Deun Deun," established in 2018, she contributed to building the institutional foundation for a gender-equal production environment by supporting victims of sexual violence and providing preventive education.
Director Yoon has regained attention with her currently screening film "The Owner of the World." Yoo Ji-tae, since his connection with the DMZ International Documentary Film Festival in 2011, has personally continued the event "Watching Independent Films with Yoo Ji-tae" for over 13 years, helping to broaden the base of independent film culture. The Kang Soo-yeon Award is presented to individuals who have contributed to the development of Korean cinema in various fields of the film industry, regardless of gender.

The awards ceremony will be held on December 16 at 7 p.m. at Indie Space in Seoul, hosted by actress Moon So-ri. Winners in other categories, including Producer, Director, Screenplay, and Acting, will be announced at a later date.
