Reinforcement of Detachment Prevention Devices for Platform Screen Doors at 15 Stations
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 8 that it has completed reinforcement work on the guide shoes that prevent the detachment of platform screen doors (PSDs) for the safety of Yongin Light Rail Transit passengers.

View original imageThis reinforcement project was carried out due to the aging of the lower guide shoes on the PSDs at 15 stations, including City Hall Station and Yongin University Station. The guide shoe is a device installed at the top end of the elevator car and counterweight, which works in conjunction with the guide rail surface to hold the elevator car and counterweight in place.
The city explained that during the reinforcement process, the existing round-shaped guide shoes were replaced with a bar-shaped structure that offers enhanced durability and stability, ensuring safety even in the event of a collision with a powered wheelchair.
To ensure passenger safety, the city plans to establish station-specific maintenance schedules and conduct monthly and quarterly facility inspections.
