Gyeonggi International Forum to Be Held in Goyang on December 10-11... Care Session Scheduled
Gyeonggi Province will host a care session at the 2025 Gyeonggi International Forum, which will be held at KINTEX in Goyang from December 10 to 11.
The Gyeonggi International Forum is the new name for the 'Gyeonggi Global Transformation Forum,' which Gyeonggi Province first launched last year. Like the Davos Forum, it invites world-renowned scholars and representatives of international organizations to address global issues that require transformative thinking.
Under the theme 'Transformation of Care·Welfare in AI Era: Beyond Technology to People,' the care session on December 11 will feature in-depth discussions among domestic and international experts on AI technologies and issues for a human-centered welfare society, as well as ethical considerations and accountability in the development and implementation of AI technologies.
Mary Madden-Nesper, Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, will deliver a lecture on the importance of ethical considerations and accountability in the development and implementation of AI technologies.
Next, Daniel Hoffman, City Manager of Herndon, Virginia, USA, will introduce the concept of 'Augmented Empathy' in relation to the adoption of ethical AI and the human-centered paradigm of care.
Kim Junggeun, Associate Professor in the Department of Senior Business at Kangnam University, will present on the paradigm shift in care technology from a technology-centered to a person-centered approach. Kim Hongsu, Director of the Health·Care AI Center at Seoul National University, will lecture on the social design of AI-based care, focusing on the transformation of welfare through public infrastructure beyond technology.

Kim Hoon, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Before expanding AI care services, it is necessary to establish legal and institutional standards for the protection of personal information and the ethical use of AI. It is also important to verify the efficiency of services relative to the cost of technology implementation," adding, "We plan to hold a variety of discussions on welfare services utilizing AI technology."
