Wonju City Completes Samgwang District Public Parking Lot... Enhanced Convenience for Residents Expected
Wonju City in Gangwon Province has completed the construction of the public parking lot in the Samgwang District of Bongsan-dong and has officially begun its operation.
This public parking lot project was implemented to address the chronic parking shortage in the Samgwang District area. The city invested 250 million won to create a parking lot with a total of 45 spaces, including 38 standard spaces, 4 compact spaces, and 3 spaces designated for people with disabilities.
The project began in September 2023 in response to suggestions from local residents. Two project briefings were held in August and September 2024. After completing administrative procedures in August 2025, construction began in September of the same year and was completed in December.

Won Kangsoo, Mayor of Wonju, stated, "The Samgwang District area has suffered from a chronic parking shortage due to the concentration of multi-family housing and commercial facilities. With the construction of this public parking lot, we expect to alleviate inconvenience for residents and improve both accessibility and vitality for local businesses."
