Mayor Lee Jangwoo of Daejeon Becomes First Member of Red Cross "Giving Club" Special Donation Program
Delivered a Special Membership Donation of 6 Million Won to the Daejeon-Sejong Branch of the Korean Red Cross
Daejeon City has become the first member of the Giving Club for 2026, a Red Cross special membership donation program for contributions of 1 million won or more.
On the morning of December 4, Mayor Lee Jangwoo attended the "2026 Red Cross Hope Sharing Fundraising Proclamation Ceremony" held at the main auditorium of the Daejeon-Sejong branch of the Korean Red Cross and delivered a special membership donation of 6 million won.
This event was organized to encourage citizen participation in Red Cross membership fundraising and to increase the number of high-value donors. More than 100 people attended, including Mayor Lee Jangwoo, representatives from organizations and companies participating in the special membership program, executives and committee members of the Daejeon-Sejong branch, and volunteers.
Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "I am deeply grateful to the Korean Red Cross for being the first to lend a helping hand at disaster sites in our region, such as Jeongbang Village in Yongchon-dong and the fire site in Haso-dong, as well as for their ongoing dedication to social service activities and safety and health projects. I ask all citizens to actively participate in the membership fundraising, which serves as a vital resource for Red Cross volunteer activities."
The Red Cross membership fundraising campaign is conducted year-round, with an intensive fundraising period from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. During this period, payment slips will be sent to citizens (heads of households) who have paid Red Cross membership dues at least once in the past five years.
In addition, citizens who wish to join the Red Cross membership fundraising can participate via virtual account, mobile, convenience stores, or mobile phone. Donations are eligible for tax deductions during year-end tax settlement.
